What an amazing day today was! I ran the Shamrock Shuffle 8k. It was a great race. I started pretty fast and then shortly after mile one I was able to zone in. My stupid phone was saying that I was running a 3min mile....I wish :-) But I shaved a lot of time off of last years time..

I am one happy girl!!!
Now that vacation is over I need to get back to the nitty gritty. I ran a lot while on vacation but also did not eat as well as when I am at home. I was able to refrain from breadsticks while at Olive Garden and made some pretty good choices. I would like to be at at least 167 by April 2nd, that is about 3 pounds.
This is a blog that I am creating to document my journey to become healthy. I wanted to show where I started, where I am, and hopefully get to where I want to be! I want the person that I see in the mirror to be the person that I feel like I am inside.

Vacation 5k and running
On Sunday I ran the Egg and Keg 5k in Nashville! Talk about a crazy day. We got into Nashville at about 2:30am and was up and ready to run at 6:30. I was super tired but it was a great run. I would however like to talk with
Nashville about their definition of a flat course. I think that need to speak with us Chicago natives about what flat means. It was a very hilly course. I ran it in 29:34- so no complaints here. It was not a PR race but they can't all be!!
Vacation has been great for running. I ran 7miles the first day I was here and it felt amazing, today I ran 5 this morning and walked 3 this afternoon. The weather is so beautiful and the scenery is unreal! I have however had to face my fear birds.....I encountered about 25 redheaded turkey vultures....nasty for the chick that hates birds! Not only did I see gigantic killer birds I also saw alligators!! It is amazing how speed increases when I freak myself out with the thought of being chased by a gigantic gator and my eyes being pecked out by a killer bird :) so far vacation had been amazing and much needed!
My biggest accomplishment so far has been while eating at Olive Garden I did not have any pasta or breadsticks ..for those that know me know how I heart my carbohydrates

27:37 and struggles.
This weekend I ran a local race here in Kankakee and set a new PR! I ran my 5K in 27:37- Heck yea!! It was amazing. Thanks to Crystal for pushing me to keep going. My first mile was an 8:17 mile. That is something that I never thought could happen! Crossing that finish line was an amazing feeling! Another awesome event from that day is that I placed 3rd in my age group....I was pumped!!!
I need give a shout out to Beth for keeping me consistent. Know that I have to meet someone to run is keeping me accountable and keeps me doing it three days a week. I logged more miles that ever last week- 22 miles in a week. Who knew that this girl would love that????
This past week has been a rough one. I have not tracked my food very well and kind of eaten whatever I have wanted. I am not sure where that desire comes from sometimes because I know what happens when I do it. The number on the darn scale goes the wrong way and I feel like crap! I am back on track and hoping to stay that way. My goal is to track everything while I am on spring break in Florida- we shall see!!!!!

The BIG 6-0!!!! and Feb Goals
What a crazy month it has been. I have been tracking my food, drinking only water, and running like crazy! Last week I weighed in at 170.8! That means that I have lost 60 pounds!! Finally! It has been a long road and it seems that the work is getting harder but it is worth it. I am excited to see what the next month brings.
Here are my goals from last month-
Be at 170 by March first- I made it to 170.8!! I will take it! I did not make it totally but I am calling success!!!
Run 14 miles a week or 56 for the month- I ran 65 miles this month :-) YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Eat more protein- I did ok with this goal....I ate way more veggies and ate lots of fish (that is a new adventure for me)
To Sum up the month I am going to give myself an 8 out of 10!!
